East Fife’s home form is giving the Bayview club cause for concern, assistant boss Dougie Anderson concedes.
The Methil men have just one League Two victory at home to their name this season, a 3-1 win over East Stirlingshire in August.
They were presented with a great chance to build on that at the weekend when bottom of the table and managerless Elgin City visited.
The Fifers, however, had to settle for a share of the spoils after Dennis Wyness cancelled out Kevin Smith’s opener.
Anderson admits the home form must pick up.
He said: “I thought we looked nervy at times and didn’t make the most of things in the middle of the park.
“We got into good positions but lacked that quality ball and quality movement.
“We huffed and puffed and Elgin made it difficult for us but we need to win our home games and we’re just failing to do that.
“We need to look at that and address it because our points tally at home isn’t great.
“Away from home we’re up there with anybody so we need to look at that.”
The Fifers had a great chance to open the scoring after just a couple of minutes when RossCampbell picked out Kevin Smith in the six-yard box but the Fife frontman fired wildly over from just a few yards out.
East Fife weren’t to be denied for long, though, and took the lead a short while later.
Elgin were unable to clear their lines following a scramble in the box and Kevin Smith was on hand to fire home.
It was almost 2-0 when Scott Smith’s cross held up in the air and landed on top of the Elgin net, with Michael Fraser beaten.
To their credit Elgin, who lost manager Barry Wilson at the start of the week, didn’t let their heads drop and hauled themselves level through veteran Wyness.
The frontman was picked out inside the box by Archie McPhee and he curled his strike past Allan Fleming.
Both sides had chances to win the game but neither were able to grab a second.
Allan Walker’s hot drive was tipped over the bar by Fraser, with Shane Sutherland unlucky at the other end.
