St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes has denied reports he has been interviewed for the vacant Burnley manager’s job.
The McDiarmid Park gaffer has been heavily linked with the post at Turf Moor in recent days and is believed to be on a shortlist of likely candidates.
That list shortened when former Hull boss Phil Brown was installed as the new Preston manager and Norwich knocked back a request from Burnley to be allowed to talk to their gaffer Paul Lambert.
When McInnes was asked last night if he had indeed already been interviewed to take over the reins at the English Championship side, he strenuously denied it.
He said, “There is no truth in that at all.”
McInnes refused to comment on reports that St Johnstone had offered a five-figure sum plus a player, believed to be Steven Milne, in exchange for Dundee’s star striker Leigh Griffiths.
