Cowdenbeath v Alloa: Kane Hemmings misses out again
ByCraig Smith
Cowdenbeath striker Kane Hemmings has been ruled out of his side’s crucial home game with Alloa by boss Jimmy Nicholl.
The club’s top scorer has been nursing a hamstring injury since the win against Dundee and was forced to sit out the 1-0 defeat to Livingston at the weekend.
There had been hopes the former Rangers man might be available, but Nicholl confirmed that Hemmings will miss out.
Cowden will also be without the suspended Jon Robertson for the Wasps’ visit, but Kenny Adamson should be back from a ban while Lewis Milne was expected to take part in training last night, despite suffering from strained ligaments.
Nicholl will be hoping to have as many players at his disposal as possible as they try to avoid the relegation play-offs, knowing that a win over Alloa would see his men close the gap on the bulk of the Championship table.
“The league is so tight just now so every victory is important,” he said. “Even after our game on Saturday, John McGlynn was saying: ‘Never mind about avoiding a rele-gation play-off, we’re hoping to get into the top four’.
“That just shows you what a few good results can do.”
