Striking the right balance between scoring goals and keeping them out at the other end will see Raith Rovers climb the table, according to boss Grant Murray.
The Kirkcaldy club were far from disgraced as they exited the Scottish Cup last weekend but all eyes have now turned to league business and most immediately a massive game against bottom of the league side Morton.
Rovers know that three points could well ease the pressure of a relegation play-off.
“We’ve got to score goals but we’ve got to keep the ball out at the other end or good teams will punish you,” the 38-year-old said.
“Performances are pleasing and we’re scoring goals, which is the biggest part of football, but we’ve got to make ourselves harder to beat.
“We’re at home on Saturday so we’ll be setting out to win the game. We’ve got to get back to scoring the first goal and being very difficult to play against.”
Rovers are without a win in 10 league games but Murray remains convinced his squad can rise to the challenge in the run-in.
“It is a tough time,” he said.
“We started the season well but that’s gone, we’ve got to realise that. We’ve got to get back to that sort of form and get that belief that we can win games of football.
“We’ve got the same squad of players apart from one or two that started the season and picked up the points that we did until we hit this wee spell, but I expect everyone here to turn that around.”
