Montrose manager Stuart Garden admits breaking into the top four could be psychologically significant in the hunt for a play-off spot ahead of their game at Stirling Albion.
If results go the Gable Endies’ way, they could find themselves right in the thick of things in terms of the promotion play-offs after last weekend’s 2-0 win over rivals East Stirling.
Following that success, Garden would love to see his side draw level on points with today’s hosts at close of play this afternoon with yet another victory.
“Last week was a big game for us but this one is every bit as important, if not more so,” he said.
“It’s a game we’ve got to try and win, and it’s one we certainly aren’t looking to lose.
“We’ve done well against the teams around us recently with the exception of the Berwick game which was disappointing, but the boys responded to that well last week and we want to build on that.”
Midfielder Garry Wood will return from suspension, but on-loan forward Calum Ferguson is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from injury.
Fellow forward Scott Johnston is also a real doubt after taking a bad head knock in last week’s 2-0 home win.
“He just headed the ball clear and the opposition player caught him square on the jaw, so it was a sore one,” Garden said.
“He actually couldn’t remember the incident and had a 45 minute spell where he can’t remember much at all, so he’s been a bit concussed this week.”
