One-time Scotland No 1 Craig Gordon insists he has won the fight to save his career following nearly two years on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The 31-year-old former Hearts and Sunderland goalkeeper has recently been using the facilities at Rangers’ Murray Park complex and has revealed he has been back training for the last three months.
Gordon has not played a competitive game since the Black Cats’ April 28 draw with Bolton after being plagued by a patella tendon problem that has required three operations.
But the 40-times capped shot-stopper, who remains British football’s most expensive goalkeeper after moving from Tynecastle to Sunderland for £9 million in 2007, admits he is now on the lookout for a new club.
Gordon said: “I have been working very hard to get back to fitness and I’m pretty much there now.
“I am looking to get back into football at the earliest opportunity, I feel as though “I’m fit enough to be able to do so now; it’s a case of trying to find the right club and trying to get back to where I was before.”
“When I do get back to playing games it will be a nice fresh challenge for me and one I can’t wait to start.”
