Cowdenbeath suffer hitch in gaining clearance for new striker
ByThe Courier Reporter
Cowdenbeath have suffered a hitch in their capture of Portuguese striker Domingos Agostinho Silveiro, despite gaining international clearance to sign the player earlier this week.
Silveiro, 22, joined the Fifers as an amateur, having been released by Conference North side Vauxhall Motors FC, but Cowdenbeath chief executive Alex Anderson said that the signing was now on hold while the SFA seek further clarification.
He said: “There is now a doubt whether the signing breaches a rule that a player cannot play for more than two clubs in one season.
“The player does not speak any English and we are now awaiting details from Portugal.”
