Frustrated East Fife boss Gary Naysmith lamented his side’s failure to kill off visitors Stranaer and secure three points.
The Methil side dominated the opening 45 minutes at Bayview and led through Nathan Austin’s opener but were unable to build on Austin’s strike, and Scott Robertson made them pay with a second-half equaliser.
Naysmith said: “To be fair to Stranraer they came out in the second half and really had a go at us.
“We never really got going and never reached the heights we did in the first half. We had a few missed chances and they came back to haunt us.
“Kevin Smith has played in Craig Johnstone and we also had another couple of opportunities. I thought in the first half we were dominant and were a joy to watch.
“My half-time team talk was really short because it was just praise. But I told the players when they came in that their manager wasn’t happy on the sidelines so to expect a reaction.
“That’s seven points we’ve taken out of a possible nine and if we can do that in our next three games we’ll be fine.”
Austin broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when he headed home a Liam Buchanan cross. It was almost 2-0 just a couple of minutes later but Craig Johnstone saw his effort blocked.
The equaliser came on 77 minutes. East Fife were unable to clear their lines from a Stranraer corner and Robertson was on hand to stab the ball home.
