Jim Jefferies welcomed his three summer signings to Dunfermline when his squad returned for pre-season training.
The Pars have snapped up Ayr United striker Michael Moffat, Stranraer winger Andrew Stirling and Airdrie defender Gregor Buchanan during the close-season and are keen on adding at least another striking option before the start of next term.
However, Jefferies also expects the players who came close to promotion to return in enthusiastic mood when they began preparing for the new campaign.
He said: “The season extended with the play-offs and the close-season got shorter.
“We have a young squad, everybody tends to look after themselves but any who have put a pound or two on, we will have them all ship-shape by the time the season opens.
“Pre-season is sometimes treated with a lot of apprehension but things have changed now.
“The players are naturally fit, they have not had a long lay-off, so a few days should see them back into the swing of it.
“We will certainly be spending a lot of our time with the ball and I do not see any major problems.”
