Hearts have announced that former Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner has joined the management team at Tynecastle.
Gardiner, who stepped down from his post at Dens Park at the end of last month following two-and-a-half-years at the club, arrives at Tynecastle as Hearts managing director David Southern prepares to switch to Dundee United as General Manager.
Rangers reportedly failed in a bid to lure Gardiner, who has previously been a commercial manager with English top-flight club Tottenham, to Ibrox last November.
Hearts owner Ann Budge said: “Scot will take over some of the duties of David Southern, who leaves Hearts at the end of the month to take up his new position of General Manager at Dundee United.
“Scot will work very closely with myself and other members of the Board in helping to address the challenges that face us in rebuilding the business.
“I am sure supporters will all join me in welcoming Scot to the club as we embark on our exciting new season.”
Gardiner certainly made his mark in his time at Dens, with two managers departing, two being appointed and new money coming into Dens from Texas.
He will probably be most remembered for his left-field, and highly controversial, appointment of John Brown after Barry Smith was moved on.
American John Nelms has stepped up to the new role of managing director at Dens.
