Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies is telling his players that they will need to stamp their authority on their game with hosts Berwick Rangers today as their player-manager Colin Cameron will have his side going out for a win.

Jefferies said: “I know Colin very well from our days at Hearts and he is a very competitive guy.

“He will want his side to claim a big name before the season starts properly so we will be in for a tough afternoon if we do not go about things properly.”

“The start of the season is only one week away and whilst friendlies are all about fitness and preparation you want to play them in the manner you want. It is a big pitch and an excellent surface at Shielfield so I wantDunfermline to go out and take control of things.”

Faissal El Bakhtaoui was injured in the Pars’ draw with Hibs in midweek and will miss out with Jefferies keen to use his full squad today.

“I am keen to give all of the players game time,” said Jefferies, before adding: “so we will use everyone that was involved against Hibs but perhaps not in the same way.

“The substitutes are likely to start and the players that started are likely to come on as I need everyone ready from day one.”

The 63-year-old began his management career at Berwick and is well up to speed with the Black and Golds as he explained: “I only live about 45 minutes away from their ground so if we have a free midweek and they are playing I pop down and see them. Colin has some good players here and will challenge well in League Two.”
