Dundee United fans are just a few hundred sales away from amassing a record-breaking support.
The Tangerines have sold 27,500 tickets for the William Hill Scottish Cup final against St Johnstone.
That already beats–just–the number that watched the club lift the cup at Hampden in 2010 by defeating Ross County 3-0.
The target now is a tantalising one–bettering the 28,000 club record attendance that saw Jerry Kerr’s team beat Barcelona in the Fairs Cup at Tannadice in 1966.
A club source said: “This is fantastic news and we have now just beaten the number that we took to the final in 2010.
“We now need to sell 501 more to break a record that has stood for 48 years.
“To think there is every chance that we will have the largest support in our history at this final is wonderful.”
