Montrose’s play-off hero Garry Wood has told the club that he is leaving them just a few days after his wonder goal helped keep the Gable Endies in senior football.
The striker slammed a 30-yard shot home against Brora Rangers at the weekend to see off the Highland League champions 3-2 on aggregate, however he has opted to leave Links Park.
Wood said: “I will be playing in the Highland League next season. I told the manager that I wanted to do something different and hope to been given the opportunity to do so.
“I am not sure what would have happened to Montrose if they had lost at the weekend however I am pleased to be leaving with them still a senior club.
“It was good to play my part in that success and to be leaving on such a high.”
