Cowdenbeath have released six players, including the experienced trio of midfielder Colin Marshall and defenders Lewis Toshney and Jordan Halsman.
The managerless Fifers have decided not to offer new contracts to former St Johnstone and Dundee man Marshall, 30, as well as 23-year old ex-Celtic right back Toshney and left-back Halsman, 23, who has had spells with Motherwell and Morton.
Three members of their under-20 squad, Aron Lynas, Dale Finnie and Craig Brand are also leaving Central Park.
Cowden will also be without striker Sean Higgins, 30, for next season as the former Ross County, Dundee, St Johnstone and Falkirk player has agreed to sign for League Two Clyde.
The Fifers have 10 players already under contract as they prepare for life in League One and re-signing talks are now under way with their remaining players.
Cowden have set tomorrow as the closing date for applications for their manager’s job, with interviews for the post scheduled to take place next week.
Meanwhile, Stenhousemuir have been linked with a move for Cowden skipper Jon Robertson, who is in his second spell with the club after spending a six- month period with former Blue Brazil boss Danny Lennon at St Mirren in 2012.
