Raith Rovers secure striker Mark Stewart on two-year extension

New Raith Rovers manager Ray McKinnon’s first bit of business has been to snap up striker Mark Stewart on a new two-year deal.
The 26-year-old former Dundee forward ended the season as Rovers’ top scorer on 10 goals for the campaign, although his future at the Kirkcaldy club was uncertain.
However, Stewart met with his new boss on Monday afternoon and thrashed out a contract that will keep him at Raith until 2017 despite approaches from two other Scottish clubs and the possibility of a move down south.
Chief executive Eric Drysdale said: “This is the beginning of the Ray McKinnon era at Stark’s Park.
“This season may not have finished yet but we are eagerly preparing for next season already.
“It’s vital that Rovers fans do show their support for the new manager by buying even more season tickets than they have already, as this will help us provide funds to Ray to bring in some fresh faces.”
