Arbroath boss Todd Lumsden was deflated after a second player performed a U-turn on signing for the Red Lichties in just three days when Scott McBride went back on his word on a new deal.
Livingston midfielder Michael McKenna signed for Berwick Rangers on Friday after telling Lumsden and assistant Stephen Hislop that he was Gayfield-bound and now former Dunfermline and East Fife midfielder McBride has walked away with a move to League One Albion Rovers believed to be on the cards.
Lumsden said: “Scott had agreed to sign and said he would complete the paperwork when he came back from holiday. However, I got a phone call to say he no longer wanted the deal to proceed.
