Dunfermline target quality over quantity as player search continues
ByThe Courier Reporter
John Potter is confident Jason Talbot will be followed by further signings to excite the fans as Dunfermline look to put quality over quantity in pursuit of promotion.
With new manager Allan Johnston away, last season’s boss Potter, who dropped back to first-team coach after failure to win promotion, helped to welcome Talbot to East End Park when he put pen to paper on Monday.
It has taken Johnston a month to make the Livingston skipper his first recruit for the Fifers, but Potter is optimistic more fresh faces are on the horizon.
He said: “We are still speaking to players and there are offers out. Myself, Allan and (new assistant) Sandy Clark met last week and planned out what we are trying to do.
“It is more important to get the right ones rather than numbers. We are speaking to people at the moment and hopefully we can get something done in the near future.
“We are still a big club and, if we can get the right players in, I have no doubt that we can go and do well and try and win this league.
“That is everybody’s aim.”
