Brechin player/manager Darren Dods has revealed that he is edging closer to having his full squad in place for the coming season.
The Glebe gaffer inherited a threadbare roster when he took over at the Angus club following a host of big-name departures.
Indeed, he only had eight players signed up before a friendly against Aberdeen last month, a game the Dons won 8-2.
However, Dods has been steadily adding ever since and his new-look team had a morale-boosting 1-0 win at home last weekend in a friendly with Premiership outfit Dundee.
He said: “We were delighted to get Euan Smith tied up earlier this week and we now have 15 signed.
“I am looking to bring one more in before the weekend and ideally, I would like 18 or 19 before the start of August.
“I’m looking for another attacking option and a left-sided player to give us balance.
“But we have the likes of Tiger Molloy back from honeymoon and the squad is starting to come together.
“However, like a lot of managers, I am finding that players I have targeted are holding off until the last minute before deciding on their futures.
“There are a lot of full-time clubs taking lads on trial and it is understandable they will want to give that a go before opting for part-time football.
“So it is a case of being patient.”
