Gary Phillips who was the goalscorer of one of Albion Rovers most historic goals is getting the chance to sign for a former Albion Rovers manager after Todd Lumsden continued his trial period at Arbroath.
Phillips netted the winner when the Coatbridge side knocked Motherwell out of the Scottish Cup back in November 2013 however he was released at the end of last season by player/ manager Darren Young.
Lumsden who gave Phillips a chance in senior football when he recruited him from Largs Thistle for the Rovers in 2012 has asked Phillips to remain at the Red Lichties in order that he can see him in action.
The Gayfield boss said: “I obviously know Gary well and he has done well in training but I want to see him in action again before we take things further. He can play in three trial games in the league and hopefully we can start that on Saturday when we face Elgin.”
