Todd Lumsden is looking for Arbroath to put on the same level of performance against Elgin at Gayfield today as they did against Hearts last week.
Manager Todd Lumsden wants the Red Lichties to start their League Two campaign against the Highlanders in a positive fashion by using the skills they showed at Tynecastle.
He explained: “We have taken a lift from how well we did against a good Hearts side. I have watched the game again and it confirmed to me that we made good use of the ball and also that we kept possession of it well.
“We scored a good goal and had another chance to make it 2-0 and then one again at 1-1 so there is plenty to be positive about. At the final whistle it was not a good result but we have set a standard in how well we can play and the challenge now is to reach that standard every week.”
Lumsden added: “Elgin did really well down at Morton for an hour last Saturday and then lost goals as they looked to get back into the game so I am not getting taking in by the 5-0 scoreline. They have good creative players in Brian Cameron and Craig Gunn and Mark McKenzie is a good addition to their squad so this will be far from an easy three points to collect.”
Mark Whatley and Kieran McWalter are out but trialists Gary Phillips and Michael Jones are included.
