Paul Hegarty has seen progression from his Montrose team as they have moved from pre-season into the two cup competitions.
And now he’s hoping that good performances will be translated into league points.
The Gable Endies get their League Two campaign up and running at Berwick this afternoon and Hegarty wants to continue the momentum he believes is building.
He said: “We didn’t get wins against Forfar or Hibs but we did well for long spells of both games.
“Hopefully we’ve got a bit of confidence from it.
“I would say we’ve improved with every game we’ve played since we came back.
“There’s a good spirit about the place. We know it will be hard to get a win down at Berwick, but that’s our aim. We all want to get off to a fast start.”
Hegarty, who has no injury concerns, added: “There have been a lot of personnel changes since the Brora game last season.
“There’s a freshness about the place. I think every team in the league has had quite a turnover of players. That’s how it seems to be these days.
“We’re still looking to bring in one or two ourselves.
“It would help everybody from the players to the fans if we could get off to a good start.”
