East Fife 5 Berwick Rangers 0: Naysmith full of praise for two-goal Wilkie

East Fife player-boss Gary Naysmith heaped praise on Berwick’s tormentor-in-chief Kyle Wilkie.
The Bayview gaffer was delighted with his entire side following their crushing win but reserved special praise for two-goal Wilkie who helped create the Fifers’ other goals.
The Methil men bounced back from an opening day defeat at Ochilview in style as they brushed away The Wee Gers.
Naysmith said: “I worked so hard to get Kyle here. There were teams in the Championship speaking with him and other clubs offering more money in this league. When he realised he wasn’t going to go full-time I had to beat off a lot of other clubs.”
Fife took the lead after just a few minutes when Nathan Austin fired home from the edge of the box.
Wilkie created the second when he beat Finn Graham on the by-line before picking out Kevin Smith.
Wilkie curled a stunning effort into the top corner for number three and made it 4-0 after the break when he fired in off the post.
Berwick were reduced to 10 men when keeper Kevin Walker was sent packing for handling outside his box before Craig Sutherland wrapped up a convincing win.
