Brechin boss Darren Dods has confidence in Paddy O’Neill to be a safe pair of hands against Airdrie today.
O’Neill will take the place of Graeme Smith between the sticks after the number one was sent off in the dying seconds of last week’s 2-1 defeat at Ayr.
The 23-year-old came on for the final moments of the game at Somerset Park but will now start against the Diamonds, with Ben Tough sitting on the bench as back-up.
Dods doesn’t see that being a problem for his team, saying: “He played against Stranaer at the end of last season and has done well in training and throughout the close season.
“It is a good chance for him to come in and do well while Graeme is serving his suspension.”
City are still looking for their first victory of the season but Dods saw positive signs in the Ayr game.
He said: “We created more chances than Ayr did and that was really encouraging.
“The players have been working hard and have trained well so I am optimistic.
“I see this match as a good chance for us to get off the mark in front of our own fans.”
