Montrose boss Paul Hegarty admits his players set the bar high with their winning performance over Arbroath last week now he is looking for them to maintain that gold standard when they play Clyde today.

The Gable Endies secured the bragging rights over their Angus rivals with an emphatic 3-0 win and the Links Park boss was delighted with the overall performance as well as the clean sheet.

Hegarty also praised the contribution of new signing from Rangers, 19-year-old Greg Pascazio who made a promising debut against Arbroath.

The manager said: “The result last week was obviously pleasing but I was really happy with the collective performance from everyone.

“As an ex-defender, I was also chuffed that we did not concede a goal which was a real plus.

“Our midfield and strikers were more creative as well and we thoroughly deserved to win and take all three points.

“It was Greg’s first game for a while and I thought he got better and better as the game went on.

“He is trying to find his feet again but Greg and Matty Allan did really well together.

“They could do with talking more but there were promising signs from them both.

“Hopefully, we will see the same attitude and commitment from the team when we play Clyde.

“They beat us twice last year and they are a good side under Barry Ferguson but we will be looking for a reversal in fortunes this time round.

“Our players have set the standard with the Arbroath performance and it is one they must maintain.”

Hegarty has a full squad to choose from with no injury or suspension problems.
