Stirling v Montrose: Stuart Garden praises his players and staff
ByThe Courier Reporter
Montrose boss Stuart Garden insists his players and the rest of the club’s back-room staff are the people deserving credit after he received the Scottish League Two Manager of the Month Award.
Garden’s side were unbeaten in the league throughout September, extending their league winning streak to five games.
The manager believes consistency could be key for the rest of the season ahead in what he insists is one of the toughest divisions around.
He said: “I know it is an old clich, but the honour should belong to the boys doing the business on the field.
“They have been doing brilliantly, as have the rest of the back-room staff, but it is still great from a personal point of view to be recognised in this way.
“We may have lost our first two games but we are unbeaten since then and long may it continue. This is without doubt one of the closest and toughest leagues there is.
“There are only five points separating top from second bottom. So the side that can achieve a high level of consistency throughout the season will definitely do well.”
