Cowdenbeath caretaker manager Lee Makel has refused to rule himself out of the running to replace Colin Cameron on a permanent basis as the Central Park outfit begin their search for a new boss.
The 41-year-old handed in his resignation on Tuesday following a board meeting, ending a largely successful two-year tenure with the Fifers which has seen them establish themselves as a Championship outfit.
Cameron’s assistant manager, Makel, has been placed in charge of the Blue Brazil “until further notice” but was last night remaining tight-lipped on whether he would be among the applicants for the post.
He did, however, confirm his aim is ultimately to return to management after a short spell in charge of Swedish side Ostersunds in 2009.
Makel said: “The chairman (Donald Findlay) asked me if I would be good enough to take on the responsibility of the footballing duties until further notice and I have no qualms about that.
“I am only looking ahead to the next day and will keep working with the players. I am happy to do that for the chairman and the board because they have been great with me and Colin.
“We have a game against East Fife in the Fife Cup tonight and I will prepare for that and then look ahead to Livingston next week.
“I would love to manage again one day but, for the moment, I am just doing what I have been asked to do.”
