Nish determined Blue Brazil will bounce back against Albion

Cowdenbeath will face Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill tonight at the fourth time of asking, with player-manager Colin Nish still reeling from his side’s 7-0 defeat by Peterhead at the weekend.

Nish said: “I thought we had turned the corner with our away form when we won at Stranraer recently; however, Saturday proved that was not yet the case.

“Albion Rovers are a very stuffy side and not many teams get the better of them particularly at home but I am expecting a reaction from the players as we are a better group than that result showed.”

Fraser Kerr is available for the first time after completing the three-game suspension he picked up at Motherwell and he could start.

Nish added: “We went to Peterhead after having three shutouts in a row, so to lose so heavily was totally unexpected.

“We started well, but we lost a couple of bad goals and rather than sitting tight and staying in the game we did not defend well and were four down by half-time.

“It was hugely disappointing, but we cannot dwell on it as the same players had defended well in the games beforehand. We will look to put things right in this game.”

Brad Donaldson is an injury doubt and John Armstrong, Jack Beaumont and Lewis Milne all continue to be ruled out.

The hosts are looking to build on their 1-1 draw with Dunfermline at the weekend and move back into third place in the table.

Albion player-manager Darren Young said: “Holding a full-time team in Dunfermline to a draw was a decent result, but like all managers I was looking for a bit more.

“I feel that we could have had an even better result if we had made better use of the ball in good areas.

“After playing well but losing to Ayr and playing well and drawing with Dunfermline I am looking for us to play well and win against Cowdenbeath.

“They will be hurting after Saturday’s result and we will be facing a group of players determined to bounce back.”

Young and striker John Gemmell are now free of suspension to give the Rovers boss a full squad to choose from.
