Raith boss Ray McKinnon will find himself in the unusual situation of having the away fans sitting directly behind his dug-out when Rangers come to Stark’s Park next week but he insists it is something that doesn’t bother him one little bit.
The Kirkcaldy club have made the decision to move their main stand season ticket holders to the South Stand for the crunch clash, with Rovers set for a big financial windfall thanks to the Glasgow club’s supporters snapping up their entire allocation.
McKinnon acknowledged that uprooting Raith fans to accommodate those of another club may not have been welcomed by everyone but he believes it makes perfect sense from a business perspective.
He said: “It doesn’t bother me, not in the slightest. I think it’s a smart move.
“You need to maximise any money you can get.
“Now they’re getting an extra 1,400 tickets. You’ve got to take that money.
“It’s a no-brainer. The club need it. I think they’ve got to do it.
“And all the Raith fans will be concentrated in the one area, we hope that stand is full and it adds atmosphere to the game.
“I think it’s the smart thing to do. Definitely, I’m on board.
“I know some fans will be a bit annoyed but, if you look at the bigger story, the money we’ve got if we had no money to pay wages, for example then I think they would understand.”
