Raith boss Ray McKinnon is running the rule over two foreign trialists as he attempts to fill the gap in his squad left by the injured Lewis Vaughan.
It was confirmed earlier this week that the 19-year-old striker had ruptured his cruciate ligament and will be out for six to nine months.
McKinnon is looking to bolster in the forward areas and had a look at the two trialists in a bounce game on Tuesday night and he will monitor them again over the next few days.
The manager said: “We’ve got an Australian Anthony Costa in on trial just now and a Swiss-Turkish guy Onur Yaldiz.
“They played on Tuesday and both scored against Glenrothes Juniors.
“They’ll be in for a couple more days for me to have a look at them.
“They would sort of be replacements for Lewis Vaughan but I need something to strengthen the squad.
“We’re just keeping looking and it will depend on whether they’re good enough.
“But Mitch Megginson came in on Saturday and scored, and I’m delighted for him.”
The bounce game was originally organised to help Iain Davidson get back to full match fitness after rejoining Raith last week.
However, he picked up an injury in the match and is a doubt for Saturday’s fixture at Falkirk.
McKinnon said: “Iain Davidson took a knock the other night in a bounce game, so he hasn’t trained and we’ll see how he is on Friday.
“Lewis has an operation scheduled for a couple of weeks. They would rather go in when the swelling’s gone down.
“So, it looks like the season’s over for him.
“Craig Barr (pelvic problem) has not trained and he’s nowhere near training but he was in the pool the other day and we’ll need to see how he reacts to that.
“Lewis Toshney (ankle) is fine. I had to rein him in on Tuesday because he was desperate to train.
“He couldn’t walk on Sunday and couldn’t walk on Monday, but wanted to train on Tuesday. He’s some boy, but he’ll be fine.”
Raith approach the Falkirk game in fine form having won their first three matches of the season with clean sheets in each one.
However, McKinnon admits the Bairns will provide his side with their most searching examination yet.
He added: “This will definitely be our toughest test of the season so far.
“They were the Scottish Cup finalists last season, they’ve got experienced players and they’ll be strong.
“They’re a top-four side every year and they’ll have ambitions to get promoted this season, so it will be a very tough game.
“Their budget is huge compared to ours but they definitely show what can be done by teams in this division.
“We’ve got to target them for our next step, because we need to go in steps.
“Raith Rovers aren’t going to go from middle of the Championship to the Premiership in one year.
“We need to set targets and put things in place and we need to be up there challenging in the way they have been.”
