Dunfermline Athletic’s incentive to beat Ayr United in Wednesday night’s Scottish Cup replay is a trip to play Rangers in the fifth round.
The Pars – who drew 1-1 at Somerset Park on Saturday – learned they will travel to Ibrox to play Ally McCoist’s men if they can get through at the second attempt, following the draw for the last 16 which was made at Hampden today.
Chairman Bob Garmory was delighted, but is not taking anything for granted.
“We know that a glamour tie would be great but we’ve got Ayr United to worry about,” he insisted.
Celtic host Aberdeen in what looks to be the tie of the round, while Dundee United’s reward for their impressive 5-2 win over Kilmarnock was a home game against either Queen of the South or St Mirren.
St Johnstone, who beat Livingston 2-0 at the weekend, are still in contention in both the League and Scottish Cups and will face either Brechin or Forfar away from home in the latter.
Raith Rovers, whose 1-0 win on Saturday ended Dundee’s interest in the competition, face a tough trip to play Hibernian, while Albion Rovers have been handed a home tie against Stenhousemuir after their shock win over Premiership Motherwell at the weekend.
In the other ties, Alloa will play Dumbarton and Clyde or Stranraer will entertain Inverness Caley Thistle.
