Montrose chairman Derek Sim has paid tribute to the contribution made by Dundee’s Matty Allan after his loan spell came to a premature end because of injury.
The defender has undergone ankle surgery which is set to keep him out until the end of the season.
Allan made 18 first-team appearances for the Gable Endies but his loan has now been ended by mutual consent with the club chairman saying: “It is disappointing for both Matty and ourselves. He was doing a great job for us at the back and was developing well with every game.
“At least having the operation now means he will be ready for pre-season training and who knows, we may be fortunate enough to welcome him back on loan next year. We wish Matty a speedy recovery and all the very best.”
Meanwhile, Montrose have also parted company with striker Dale Reid who only made four appearances for the club after joining from Montrose Roselea in the summer.
