Dougie Anderson says East Fife will refuse to be relegated without a fight as the season reaches its conclusion.
The Methil men travel to Ayr on Saturday knowing they must win to secure their place in the League One relegation play offs.
Bottom-placed Arbroath still sit just one point behind the Fifers, but with a much healthier goal difference.
On Saturday East Fife went down 2-1 at home to Brechin who wrapped up the win thanks to goals from Andy Jackson and Alan Trouten.
Pat Clarke responded with a late consolation for the Fifers. Anderson says the Methil men will head to Somerset Park on Saturday with real intent.
He said: “We need to dust ourselves down, regroup and get the players on board. Hopefully we get a couple of players back from injury as well.
“That group of players have a fantastic attitude; we just lacked that wee bit of quality in the final third.
“We need to keep working hard and give it absolutely everything we have on Saturday. That’s all we can do.”
Brechin snatched a deserved lead in the first half when Jackson headed home a Ryan Ferguson corner in off the underside of the bar.
East Fife’s players were claiming the ball had not crossed the line but referee Iain Brines was having none of it.
The Methil side did not look like a team battling for their lives and only had a Gary Thom header, which was well saved by Graeme Smith, to boast of.
As the game went on it looked more likely that Brechin would only add to their lead rather than be pegged back.
And that is the way it turned out when Trouten chipped over Greg Paterson in the Fife goal.
The Fifers continued to battle and grabbed their late consolation when Clarke headed home a Liam Buchanan cross.
Brechin boss Ray McKinnon said: “There was a lot of pressure on East Fife and I thought we played really well without playing as well as we probably could.
“If we had a little bit more composure in the final third we could have ran out easy winners which is strange because our front four have been doing well. We defended really well and Garry Kenneth was outstanding.”
