East Fife have completed the signing of Cowdenbeath midfielder Marc McKenzie until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has decided to make the switch to Methil from Central Park on a permanent transfer rather than on a loan basis, and has become Fifers boss Gary Naysmith’s latest acquisition after the signings of Kevin Rutkiewicz and Kevin Smith last week.
McKenzie was due to undergo a medical last night and should be available for the visit of Forfar, pending the necessary paperwork.
Meanwhile, East Fife have made an official complaint to the SPFL that Saturday’s game against Stranraer was the victim of a late postponement.
Heavy rain forced the call-off of the game at Stair Park around about an hour-and-a-half before kick-off, when many supporters had already made the lengthy trip to the west coast.
The team bus was also nearly at the ground before club officials got word the match had fallen by the wayside due to a waterlogged pitch.
Sources close to the club have suggested there had been torrential rain in the Stranraer area the previous evening and on the morning of the game, and that has prompted questions of Stranraer as to why no referee was called for an early inspection.
Chairman Lee Murray has revealed that he has contacted the league to make the club’s feelings “very clear”.
“We are extremely unhappy that we were given no indication that there would be a problem with the pitch,” he said.
“I thought it was terrible that the pitch was not checked long before but I’ve not had anything back from either Stranraer or the league, not even an apology.
“If we had called the game off, I think an apology would be the first thing I would be giving.
“The game was called off at 1.38pm and we were virtually at the ground, so it’s fair to say we were not happy.
“I don’t expect anything but I have asked for our fans to be compensated for the journey they undertook or at least the re-arranged game.”
