Peterhead v Montrose: No lack of incentive for Gable Endies
ByThe Courier Reporter
It isn’t often you get the chance to leapfrog four teams in one go, but that is exactly the opportunity that Montrose have when they travel to Peterhead.
Victory in Aberdeenshire would take Stuart Garden’s men above this afternoon’s opponents, East Stirling, Annan and Stirling Albion in one fell swoop.
The home team also have no lack of motivation, as three points will lift them into first.
Garden said: “We’ve both got our incentives. Mind you, from our point of view we’ve spoken about that before and never achieved it. Hopefully this time we can do it.”
Both sides should be in a positive frame of mind Montrose from a late comeback draw last weekend, and Peterhead as a result of a 5-0 thrashing of Queen’s Park.
The Links Park boss noted: “I thought Peterhead would win last week, but to win by five away from home was a great result.
“We would have wanted to get more than a point against Elgin because we dominated most of our game, but you’re always happy to get two goals in the last five minutes to draw.
“We beat them before this season, and hopefully we can do it again.”
Alan Campbell returns from injury, but Gareth Rodger is injured.
