Paul Hegarty is still seeking his first win in charge of Montrose after an own goal and a breakaway effort saw Clyde take the points at Broadwood.
The recently appointed Links Park manager said: “We played a bit better this week, but they had more chances than us.
“When you get a goal like that a mix-up between the keeper and the centre-back it takes the wind out your sails and from that point of view it was very disappointing.
“After that I had to throw Garry Wood, a centre-back, up front to try to salvage something.
“Then they caught us on the break from our corner kick and our two defenders are not marking anybody and all of a sudden Clyde, to their credit, get people forward in numbers and we lose a goal which is very disappointing.”
Clyde started off well with Scott Ferguson hitting the post within seconds of kick-off.
The Bully Wee dominated much of the remainder of the half but were unable to convert possession into clear-cut chances.
It took a bizarre own goal early in the second half to break the deadlock when Wood somehow managed to lob his own keeper.
The points were sealed 10 minutes from time when a Clyde counter-attack paved the way for Ferguson to head decisively into the net.
Results elsewhere mean the Gable Endies are five points adrift at the foot of the League Two table and Hegarty added: “With East Stirling winning today it doesn’t help matters.
“We just have to keep battling away.”
