Forfar hope to bounce back from a painful defeat when they play Ayr United tonight at Somerset Park.
The Loons lost 4-1 to Stenhousemuir on Saturday and manager Dick Campbell is looking for better from his players.
He said: “It was a sore one and while we should give our opponents credit we did not play well at Stenhousemuir.
“We never got going at the start of the game but worked our way into it. We then fell out of it again in the last half hour.
“We are a much better team than we showed at Ochilview and we are aiming to show that at Ayr.”
Ayr didn’t do any better themselves, going down 3-0 to Airdrie at the weekend.
Campbell added: “Both ourselves and Ayr are looking to bounce back but we have to go there and win.
“Our play-off chances would be greatly enhanced if we can get the three points but it will not be easy as Ayr have objectives of their own.”
Odmar Faero is away on international duty with the Faroe Islands, but Martyn Fotheringham is available again after illness.
The Honest Men sit fourth at the moment, three points clear of Stenhousemuir and seven clear of the Loons, and player-manager Mark Roberts has told his men to win and keep their play-off fate in their own hands.
Roberts said: “If we win this one, we would be in a good place before the final quarter of games.
“If we were offered a six-point lead with nine games to go at the start of the season, we would have taken it. That would leave everything in our hands so it would be massive to put ourselves totally in control.
“Forfar will see this as must-win so I am expecting a cup-tie approach.”
One of the Ayr players dismissed at the weekend, Adam Hunter, could feature against the Loons as Ayr are appealing his dismissal. However, Kyle McAusland will miss out after his sending-off.
Michael Moffat serves the final game of his four-match ban for breaching betting rules but Alan Lithgow and Brian Gilmour are available again.
