Montrose boss Paul Hegarty is looking for his side to continue their perfect home record this season when they face East Fife this afternoon.
The Gable Endies have won all four of their league games at Links Park this season, including last week’s 2-1 victory over East Stirling.
Hegarty is hoping to make it five in a row against Gary Naysmith’s side however he is aware that nothing can be taken for granted in the incredibly-competitive League Two.
Five teams, including Montrose and East Fife are currently locked on 12 points, one behind league leaders Annan, and Hegarty is expecting it to remain tight until the season’s conclusion.
He said: “We played really well in the first half last week but we couldn’t get that elusive third goal.
“To their credit, East Stirling never gave up and they scored with just four minutes to go which made it a nail-biting finish but thankfully we held on to take another three points at home.
“Hopefully we can continue where we left off against East Fife at Links Park on Saturday.
“We know it will be tough as Gary Naysmith has them well organised and they beat us a couple of times last season.
“But it is a game we are all looking forward to.
“I have said it before but you only have to look at the league table to see just how tight this division is.
“There is very little between the teams and I can see it continuing to be just as close as the season progresses.
“It is all about who wants it most.
“Like us, every side we have played has been really hard-working and it is all about who can provide that wee bit of magic on the day.”
That magic last week was provided by the two Montrose scorers Gary Fraser and Graham Webster with the duo having five and four goals to their names respectively so far this season.
Hegarty added: Gary and Graham are doing really well for us and long may it continue.
“But it is a team game and we have also had lads like Ross McCord and Ross Campbell chipping in with goals which is pleasing.”
Paul Watson will miss out after having a hernia operation earlier this week but on-loan Dundee defender Matty Allan returns to the squad after injury.
