Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray reckons winger Joe Cardle will be well up for this weekend’s home game against Alloa after the birth of his first child.
The 26-year-old took to Twitter to confirm the safe arrival of his baby daughter Josie-Anne Cardle and will spend the next couple of days getting used to fatherhood along with his partner.
Cardle came off towards the end of Saturday’s defeat to Queen of the South but Murray expects the winger to be fit and ready to go for the visit of the Wasps this coming weekend.
“I don’t think there’s such a thing as paternity leave in football!” Murray said.
“We’re delighted for him and he’ll be wanting to get back playing as quick as he can he’ll be high as a kite.”
Saturday’s loss away to Queen of the South saw Rovers slip out of the promotion play-off spots and Murray will be determined to call upon all of his best players this weekend as he seeks to get the season back on track.
Apart from long-term absentees David McGurn and Paul Watson, Murray confirmed that only midfielder Kevin Moon will miss Saturday’s game.
Moon was forced off at Palmerston with a calf niggle and would probably have been doubtful for the Alloa game in any case but he will be sidelined due to suspension this weekend after reaching the disciplinary points threshold.
