Partick Thistle climbed back out of the Scottish Premiership relegation play-off place and compounded Hearts’ woes at the basement with a 2-0 win at Tynecastle.
Lyle Taylor scored his first goal for the Jags before Aaron Taylor-Sinclair added a second with a header before the interval.
The win for the Jags sees Alan Archibald’s side leap-frog Ross County into 10th place. The writing seems to be on the wall for Hearts, however, after they were left 19 points adrift.
The only blot for Thistle was the sending off of Stuart Bannigan for two yellow cards seven minutes from time. In the seventh minute Hearts’ Callum Paterson headed Kevin McHattie’s corner straight at Scott Fox.
Steven Lawless responded with an effort for the visitors, although his volley from a Taylor-Sinclair cross was straight at Jamie MacDonald.
The Jags stormed ahead in 14 minutes after Gabriel Piccolo’s long ball was flicked on by Kallum Higginbotham and Taylor blasted a shot in off MacDonald.
Partick doubled their lead five minutes before the break when Taylor-Sinclair bulleted home Higginbotham’s corner. Hearts tweaked their formation at the interval but Partick came at their hosts again immediately after the restart.
Partick played out the final four minutes with 10 men after midfielder Stuart Bannigan collected a second yellow card.
