INVERNESS HANDED Terry Butcher a reminder of what he will be leaving behind if he quits to take over the Hibernian hotseat, as they claimed a 2-0 win at Easter Road.
Butcher looks set to swap Inverness for Easter Road as long as the clubs can agree a compensation deal.
The former England captain could be unveiled over the next 48 hours after watching from the stand as Inverness beat Hibs 2-0 on Saturday.
After the game, Inverness assistant boss Maurice Malpas insisted the move was not yet a done deal.
“There are the three parties,” Malpas said. “You’ve got the two clubs and Terry. Everybody tells me it’s done and dusted but Terry tells me otherwise.
“The two clubs are obviously talking about compensation. Until that bit gets decided, I don’t have a decision to make.
“I think everybody knows, if they get everything done, he probably would come here.”
Malpas, Butcher’s long-time assistant at both Motherwell and Inverness, said: “I would expect, when Terry makes his mind up, that I will get involved some way, whether that’s ‘You’re not coming’ or ‘Do you want to come?’ or whatever.”
First-half goals from Nick Ross and Billy McKay secured three points for ICT.
Partick Thistle remain without a win at home in the Scottish Premiership this season after two goals by Steven Thompson guided St Mirren to a 3-0 victory at Firhill.
Thompson’s double and one from Conor Newton were enough for Danny Lennon’s men to take the three points back to Paisley.
Partick’s misery was compounded with the dismissal of Stephen O’Donnell midway through the second half.
The home side also had a huge claim for a penalty waved away by referee John Beaton.
Higginbotham cut inside to unleash a shot which clearly struck the outstretched arm of Saints captain Jim Goodwin.
The referee deemed the contact was accidental, much to the fury of the home supporters.
