East Fife manager Gary Naysmith is looking for his players to show the same resilience and drive that they displayed in their 5-3 win over East Stirling last weekend when they take on Elgin at the Moray club’s Borough Briggs stronghold.
The Fifers were a man down to the Shire last weekend early in the second half after Jamie Insall was sent off, however the remaining 10 turned things around.
Naysmith said: “The boys worked really hard and showed very good character when we went down to ten men. We played well and really looked dangerous on the break.
“They turned a difficult situation into a positive one and we will need all that attributes they showed in that game and possibly more to win at Elgin. They are a very strong side at home where they have won five of their six games and drawn the other one.”
He added: “We did well up there last season in a midweek game that we won 5-3 and Nathan Austin scored four times. A repeat of that type of performance would be very welcome.
“Elgin have good attackers and Dylan Easton has done really well since joining recently and playing just off Craig Gunn. We will need to keep their front men quiet however I am sure they will be wary of our attacking threat.
“Both sides like to go forward so it could be a case of ensuring that we score one more than them.
Insall is suspended after his sending off, Graeme MacGregor has joined Linlithgow Rose on loan, Ross Brown and Stevie Campbell are out injured, Allan Walker is still working his way towards fitness and Kevin Smith is a doubt.
