Montrose came from behind to beat promotion-chasing Clyde and in doing so took another vital step away from the dreaded bottom spot in League Two.
Montrose manager Paul Hegarty hailed a “magnificent result” by his men as they made it seven points gained out of the last nine.
Hegarty said: “We are building a bit of momentum in terms of getting results. We dominated the game in the first half.
“Half-time came too soon for us, but in the second half we didn’t get out of the traps until the last 15 or 20 minutes when they began to tire.”
Hegarty praised Jamie Clark, who played as a trialist and new signing Chris Templeman, who made his debut off the bench.
“I tried to get Jamie Clark in the summer but he went to Arbroath. He is an intelligent footballer. Chris Templeman did ever so well and he gives us another option with his strength and aerial ability.”
Clyde started well and on nine minutes, a header from Mark McLaughlin was cleared off the line by Ryan Ferguson.
On 16 minutes, Clyde were reduced to 10 men when Michael Bolochoweckyj was sent off for an off-the-ball trip on Ross Campbell.
Gary Fraser took the resultant penalty but John Gibson dived to save.
The visitors grabbed the lead on 22 minutes when McLaughlin scrambled the ball home following a corner.
But Montrose got the goal they deserved three minutes into added time at the break. The ball broke to Clark inside the box and he smashed it into the net.
Clyde were awarded a penalty on 57 minutes when Aaron Comrie was judged to have fouled Sean Higgins. Scott Linton hit the post from the spot.
Montrose grabbed a winner on 76 minutes. Campbell broke on the right and his low cross was swept home on the turn by Adrian Mallagaray.
