Cowdenbeath v Falkirk: Stevenson struggling for fitness
ByThe Courier Reporter
Cowdenbeath midfielder Jamie Stevenson looks set to lose his fitness battle ahead of Saturday’s visit of Falkirk to Central Park.
The 29-year-old former Airdrie and Alloa man was forced off in the first half of Cowden’s 3-2 triumph over Dumbarton prior to the international break and may miss the Bairns clash.
Boss Colin Cameron remains hopeful Stevenson will be available, but admits he may have to look at other options.
“Jamie’s probably not going to be fit enough in time,” he said. “It’s a hamstring problem and although he’s getting better, I think Saturday might come too soon for him.”
Cameron believes the return of midfield maestro Jon Robertson to the club following 15 months at St Mirren has given the Blue Brazil a huge boost.
“I thought Jon showed exactly why I wanted him back here,” he said.
“He was up and down the park throughout the game and made good passes at one end and was then back mopping up difficult situations.
“Jon’s arrival has given us the best squad since I took over as manager.”
