East Fife manager Gary Naysmith has won the Ladbrokes League Two Manager of the Month award for August.
The Fifers won three of their opening four fixtures last month to top the table.
Former Scottish international Naysmith said: “We had a disappointing opening day at East Stirling but after that we did well to defeat Berwick Rangers, Elgin and Queen’s Park.
“We also knocked Dumbarton out of the Scottish League Cup and gave Motherwell a fright in the next round so it was a decent month.”
Naysmith reckons that reducing the size of his squad over the summer has brought benefits as he explained: “I did not have a large budget for this season so I had to get every signing absolutely correct. We are only running with 18 players so I could not bring in anyone that was not going to be up for contributing every week.”
The Bayview side have slipped since September began with Naysmith hoping that his men bounce back this weekend against Clyde.
He added: “I have no complaints about our defeat at Annan as they were the better team. However losing to Arbroath could have been avoided and we will learn for that.
“We have done our homework on Clyde and will be ready for them come the weekend.”
