Jimmy Nicholl puts his faith in Cowdenbeath new boys

Cowdenbeath boss Jimmy Nicholl believes the clutch of new players he has brought to Central Park can boost the club’s hopes of survival.
Nicholl has been busy in the transfer market in recent weeks and, after taking midfielder David Gold on loan from Hibs, moved to sign three other players last Thursday to bolster his squad.
Kilmarnock playmaker James Fowler joined on loan from a month, Partick defender Darren Brownlie signed on loan until the end of the season and Dunfermline midfielder Chris Kane also made a permanent switch to Central Park, with the latter expected to be available for this weekend’s trip to Hamilton after missing the 2-0 loss to Falkirk.
Saturday’s latest defeat left Cowden 10 points adrift of safety but Nicholl, who is trying to bring in another new face ahead of the weekend, reckons the new faces will provide some fresh impetus.
“We will have to scrap for results and the lads I’ve brought in can help us to grind out wins,” he said.
“They are all real competitors.”
