Allan Johnston admits he expects to have to wait until later in the season before holding discussions over his future as Dunfermline manager.
The former Hearts and Kilmarnock winger penned just a 12-month deal when he took over at the Pars last summer with pressure on to return the team to the Championship.
The supporter-owned East End Park outfit have confessed they desperately need promotion this term as they contemplate the prospect of introducing part-time football if they have to endure another year in League One.
With the Fifers sitting six points clear at the top of the table, Johnston is optimistic they are on their way back up the leagues following the relegation that followed administration in 2013.
However, he accepts that his own future as boss is unlikely to be sorted out until the team’s future is settled.
He said: “It’s about results, isn’t it? We’ve just got to keep on winning and, come the end of the season, our aim is to win the league.
“The be all and end all is to get promoted, and hopefully we can be in that position.
“And then, hopefully, we can sit down and look at everything, whether that’s getting the players sorted and so on and so forth.”
Asked about his own future, he added: “I would imagine it will be towards the end of the season before we look at all that.”
