Arbroath v Elgin: Lichties look to get back on track

Arbroath manager Allan Moore has called on his side to get their League Two title challenge back on track against visitors Elgin this afternoon.

The Gayfield boss is fed up hearing hard luck stories and had to endure another one last weekend as his team failed to capitalise when on top at Annan and ended up losing 2-0.

That result saw them slip from top spot for the first time in several months as Queen’s Park took over pole position, so Moore wants to see the right response from his players today.

Moore said: “We are playing better than we have been but we are still not winning games despite those improved performances.

“We dominated Annan for long spells but the bottom line is that we lost the game.

“We were unlucky but we need to do a few things better as well.

“Their first goal came about as a player did not do what he was told to do at a free kick and we were punished severely.

“The second came when we were chasing the game but I have taken consolation from the fact that it was a far better performance than ones in recent weeks.

“I don’t care how we play I just want the three points.

“We need a result to get us back to the top and hopefully we can do that between this game and one in midweek.

“If we win them both we are back leading the league.

“It has been a disappointing spell but I am not interested in bad luck anymore, I am just looking for us to win by hook or by crook.”

Scott McBride and Kevin Nicoll are in the squad but they may have to settle for a place on the bench alongside Dylan Carreiro who has recovered from a knock.
