Brechin City and Stenhousemuir shared the points at Ochilview.
City remain in basement position in League One but narrowed the gap with Forfar Athletic, who have played two games fewer, to a single point.
The opening 45 minutes were fairly even, with City perhaps having the edge in terms of possession and pressure.
Goalmouth opportunities were few and far between.
City’s best chance of the half came after 38 minutes when a Lewis Spence shot from the edge of the box looked netbound until a deflection.
Stenny responded a minute before half-time, with Graeme Smith being stretched to save a 25-yard drive from Alan Cook.
Both sides pushed forward in the opening stages of the second-half.
City missed a golden opportunity in the 59th minute when an Andy Jackson shot was deflected into the path of David Weatherston but he scooped the ball past the post from only two yards out.
Stenny hit back and a Mark Gilhaney shot was parried by Smith, and in the 77th minute a Gilhaney drive crashed back off the bar before being cleared.
With a minute remaining Jackson sent a shot inches past the target, and Smith made sure his side left with a deserved share of the spoils seconds later when he brought off a point-blank save from Carlos Mazana.
City boss Darren Dods said: “We asked the players for a reaction after Saturday’s defeat at Stranraer and they certainly provided that tonight.”
“The team played well and created chances, so we’ll keep battling away in an effort to get out of our current position.”
