Montrose boss Stuart Garden says he has sympathy for the small group of Gable Endies fans who made it to their League 2 game with Berwick Rangers only for it to be called off.
A floodlight failure at Shielfield and the surrounding neighbourhood saw the game postponed without a ball being kicked.
Garden said: “We were very frustrated and it was probably worse for the fans. There was a small group of them down and to undertake a more than six-hour round trip and not see football must have been terribly disappointing.
“You have to feel sorry for fans when situations like this happen. The only bright spot was that one of our fans who travels up from Carlisle for every game had the shortest journey home of anyone.”
Garden has asked for some common sense before the League 2 game is rescheduled.
A power surge affected Berwick’s ground and the surrounding area when both sets of players were warming up for the 7.45pm start.
Garden said: “We have had players that have had to take time off their work to get here as it is a six-hour round trip.
“I hope there is some common sense shown when it comes to reorganising the game.”
He added: “The players’ employers have been flexible but I don’t think we should be testing their patience.”
