Gary Naysmith has challenged his East Fife players to maintain the high standards they are setting for themselves.
The Fifers followed up an impressive performance despite a 2-0 defeat at Ibrox against Rangers with a 2-1 home win over Forfar on Saturday.
The League One win was all the more pleasing for the manager as his side grabbed it having come back from being a goal down.
Naysmith, who handed starts to new signings Kevin Smith, Kevin Rutkiewicz, Stephen O’Neill and Marc McKenzie, said: “We played some lovely stuff and that’s two games in a row now they’ve set their standards. So it’s important that we maintain that.
“We won’t get carried away with it because there’s a long way to go, but that’s a very encouraging start with our new boys coming in. I’m delighted with that.”
The Fifers got off to a good start and it took a point-blank Rab Douglas stop from a Joe Mbu effort to stop Forfar going a goal behind.
But Campbell’s men edged themselves into the game with Chris Templeman and Dale Hilson going close.
The opener came when Omar Kader burst down the wing and squared for Gavin Swankie who made no mistake from eight yards.
The Methil men started the second half as brightly as they started the first and it took them just a couple of minutes to draw level.
Without a pass on, McKenzie decided to go for goal from outside the box and his strike took a wicked deflection off Darren Dods and beyond Douglas.
Scott Durie almost benefited from another deflection when his strike rebounded off Iain Campbell. Luckily for Forfar the ball spun over.
East Fife did eventually manage to get their second goal and it came from the boot of another of the new boys.
Forfar were unable to clear their lines from a corner, and with the visitors claiming for a foul inside the box, O’Neill picked up the loose ball and fired home.
The decision not to award his side a foul clearly angered Loons boss Dick Campbell.
He said: “It’s the most ridiculous second goal I’ve ever seen in my life.
“Everybody in the whole ground could see that our boy goes to kick it and he’s pulled back. But the referee plays on.
“I won’t take anything away from East Fife though they deserved to win the game.”
